Lee Roy Selmon's story combines an athletic scholarship to his family as well as service to his community. Selmon is the son from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They had him raised on their property in Eufala. Second, football was his favorite sport. He was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. The trio made All-America. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the leading lineman of the nation. In his three years as Oklahoma's first lineman and the team went 32-1-1 and captured two championships. Selmon was given a second award in 1975. In addition, he was referred to as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in the field of education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. Then he settled in Tampa following his college years, playing in the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. In 1988, he joined the ranks of an account relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the United States' 10 outstanding young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the director of athletics as an associate. The university named him to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Senior. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
